With so many people asking how to submit a story to Good Things Guy, we thought we would break down the process, making it easier for you and the editorial team.

South Africa (18 March 2024) – Readers send in hundreds of stories each week in the hope of getting their stories featured on the Good Things Guy website and social media pages. We love these stories and often share as many as we can get to in a week.

Often readers will reach out on social media asking how they can submit a story for consideration, so this article will share all the things you need to know to possibly get your story online.

Let’s take a look…

How to submit a story to Good Things Guy?

  1. Send your story to our editorial team using the email stories@goodthingsguy.com.
  2. Include all vital information, including full names and ages of the story subjects.
  3. Include any relevant links (these can include social media posts – but make sure privacy settings are listed as public so the team can see the posts)
  4. Photos are vital for making a story look good, so be sure to send a few images as well as who we should credit.
  5. Stories related to children under the age of 16 require parental consent, if you are not the parent or legal guardian, please include their email or contact number so the team can reach out.
  6. If you are needing to raise funds, please include a link to a crowdfund. We cannot share private banking details for stories featured on Good Things Guy. Only registered charities can list banking details for potential stories.
  7. Sharing as much detail as possible helps the team, so share whatever you think is relevant. You can also share inside information for context but opt not to make it public knowledge; just be sure to add a note when this is the case.
  8. Please advise if there are any time-sensitive dates to be aware of.

Once your email is sent, the editorial team will review all the information supplied and then it gets added to the editorial consideration list, which is where our storytellers get their information from.

If your story is picked up by the team, they will reach out to let you know. Because we receive hundreds of emails, expect a delay here and there. If you have not heard from anyone within a week, pop us a follow-up. Some weeks are busier than others, so we may miss an email here and there, but a follow-up puts it back on the radar.

Stories live on multiple platforms, including our Facebook pages and groups, our website, as well as X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and our apps on both Apple and Android devices.

So there you have it, if you or someone you know has some good news to share, now you know how to submit a story to Good Things Guy.
