Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson are currently in quarantine after being confirmed to have Covid-19; Tom has been updating the public regularly via Instagram.

Australia (12 March 2020) – Tom Hanks has been in Australia doing pre-production work for an upcoming movie about Elvis. While there, he and his wife started to feel tired and decided to get checked. It was found that the Hollywood couple had Covid-19 and were immediately isolated.

Tom took to Instagram to share the news, making him the first celebrity to confirm having the virus.

“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.

Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?

We’ll keep the world posted and updated.”

After Tom Hanks shared the news, social media was flooded with a few fake news stories about him and Wilson, the volleyball, not the wife!

A story from 2015, was adapted and made into a fake news story this week. In 2015, Tom Hanks was at the Basketball watching the NY Rangers. On camera, someone tossed him a Wilson replica and he posed with it. The trending fake news story is that fans sent him the Wilson replica as a joke to keep him company during his isolation. This is very much untrue!

Although when we heard it, we really wanted it to be true! How funny would it have been for them to reunite yet again in total isolation?

The only Wilson he is spending time with is his wife Rita.

“Hello, folks. Rita and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else. There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no? Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball. Hanx”
