Tracy Chapman is ‘Talkin’ ‘bout a Revolution’ in first TV performance in five years.
New York, United States of America (03 November 2020) – Yes, finally the tables are starting to turn… and Tracy Chapman is Talkin’ bout a revolution again!
It’s not often that the legendary singer-songwriter is seen on TV or even at live performances, so when the four-time Grammy award winner comes out with a message, even if it sounds like a whisper, the world listens!
Chapman wants Americans to get out and vote and on Monday’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers”, the iconic performer sang “Talkin’ ’bout a Revolution” on television for the first time in five years with an election message.
“Talkin’ ’bout a Revolution” is the second single from singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman’s self-titled debut album. The politically aware song was released in 1988 but has made a comeback in 2020 as an unofficial theme for Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign. This song normally gets played before speeches at campaign rallies.
At the end of the song, Chapman altered the lyrics slightly, changing the final words in the line, “Talkin’ bout a revolution, oh no,” to “Go vote” but the song feels like a message to the world right now.
Chapman sings about how finally the tables are starting to turn… and with what is happening globally, we can only hope.
