Trevor Noah is currently home in South Africa on tour for ‘There is a Gupta on my Stoep’. While here he made an announcement about an upcoming SA project.
Trevor Noah is a huge hit overseas and he has made a big name for himself in the comedy and talk show world across the globe. Currently he is home doing a comedy tour, making South Africans laugh as he discussed politics and more.
He believes his success is because he started out as a comedian in South Africa. He knows we have so much talent in the country and this is what led to the concept of a TV show based around South African Comedians and their talents.
“It’s going to be about showcasing the comedic talent we have in our country, we have some comedians that are doing amazing stuff”
“We are going to be showcasing South African comedy, showing its growth because it has grown in leaps and bounds since I started. You know if it was not for the older generation I would not have got into comedy and I needed the pioneers to lay the groundwork and then I was of the next generation who got to take it to another level. Now we have a new generation doing the same,”
The current proposed title of the show is ‘Trevor Noah Presents …’ in which he will showcase the up and coming young comedians of South Africa. The show is being done in partnership with M-Net and was announced during a press conference.
“I’ve had a great partnership with M-Net for many years now, M-Net was first to give me a shot to have my own TV show where I was involved in the creation of the show,”
“In the series I will be working with M-Net, me being in South Africa, gathering the finest comedians from across the country, and showcasing them to viewers in South Africa and saying ‘hey, these are the comedians who will make you laugh’ for every walk of life, every single race, every single language.
“I will be hosting the episodes, showcasing some of the comedians who I think deserve to be out there”.
The filming is set to start in 2018 and will apparently be on air shortly thereafter. We look forward to it! Especially because South Africans are just the funniest people ever!
