The Santa Shoebox Project is spreading warmth and joy all year long, and they’re looking for kind hearts to join their mission! Volunteers are needed for all sorts of tasks, from packing colourful shoeboxes to delivering them with love.
South Africa (04 March 2025) – There’s no greater time to spread kindness, brighten someone’s day or help someone in need like the present!
The Santa Shoebox Project (SSP) is calling on do-gooders to become volunteers for their incredible mission.
Although the big man in red usually makes his appearance in December, SSP volunteers work throughout the year to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children.
“Volunteering your time, sharing your skills, or simply spreading the word helps us reach even more little hearts. Whether you’re packing, crafting, sorting, or supporting from afar, your kindness makes a difference every single month,” SSP says.
Each year, friends, families, colleagues and community members across South Africa and Namibia offer a few hours of their precious time to live the Santa Shoebox Project mantra and experience The Joy of Giving.
There are various ways to lend a hand such as becoming an ambassador, building a team in your community, arranging deliveries or celebrating with the children receiving shoeboxes, to name a few.
Depending on the role you choose, the Project will require your help at various times during the year, with drop off events held in late October and early November being the busiest times.
Youngsters can also earn community service hours required to complete their Life Orientation portfolio by volunteering.
So, if you have a friendly smile, a few free hours to spare, are organised and reliable, consider joining a Santa Shoebox Project team in your area!
