Forever Green, Forever Gold, Forever United! This was not just a celebration of rugby but a celebration of everything that makes South Africa extraordinary. We are stronger together!

Western Cape. South Africa (11 September 2024) – Rugby fans were treated to a dazzling surprise in Cape Town on Saturday when SA Rugby spiced things up with a heart-thumping flash mob at the Springboks vs New Zealand match.

The atmosphere was electric as the greatest rugby rivalry returned to the Mother City after seven years, this time at the magnificent Green Point Stadium.

Gone were the familiar grounds of Newlands Stadium, and in its place, the Green Point Stadium became a new battleground for these two rugby titans. To celebrate this monumental occasion, SA Rugby pulled out all the stops, partnering with local legend Siv Ngesi and the incredible “Street Stylers” dance crew. Together, they created an unforgettable pre-game spectacle that left the crowd in awe.

Just as the anticipation was building, fans were treated to an unexpected yet exhilarating performance. In a surprise move, dancers emerged from the stands and the field, grooving to the tune of “From Now On” from The Greatest Showman and mixing it up with the infectious beats of Amapiano, one of South Africa’s most beloved music genres. It was an epic collision of song, dance, and sport, and the energy was contagious!

Fans in the stadium were caught off guard, many dropping their jaws, while others joined in, feeling the rhythm in their bones.

Social media quickly exploded with reactions, with one spectator commenting, “I don’t care who says what, but one thing I know is that we are One… And the Talent here in Mzansi is Amazing.. Thank you, Guys, for making me dance.”

Another fan added, “You will swear it was the opening ceremony of the rugby world cup!!! Amazing!! Imagine us hosting the next world cup, how awesome will the opening ceremony be.”

Social media was abuzz with positivity and pride. Comments keep flooding in, with many praising the creativity and energy of the flash mob.

“Ridiculous. This country needs to just offer its services as opening and closing ceremony experts for all sporting events,” one fan joked. “We don’t need to host the thing. We’ll just go around doing it for everyone because we are literally a VIBE!”

Others expressed their deep connection to the moment, even if they weren’t there in person. “Absolutely amazing. Honest to goodness SA rugby is one of the best things on the planet (if you’re South African or get the Springbok thing). I wasn’t even there, but I can still just feel that in my heart and know that would have been an amazing experience for anyone who was there.”

As one spectator put it, “We truly are a Rainbow Nation. Imagine if we were to host the next RWC in 2027🤭🔥 Well Done Cape Town, this is beautiful.” The performance was a reminder of how sport can unite people, creating moments that transcend the game itself.

So, whether you were in the stadium on Saturday or now watching this video from afar, it is clear: South Africa knows how to put on a show like no other!

Here’s to more moments that make our hearts race and our feet dance – forever green, forever gold, and forever united!
