Will and Grace has been green-lit to return to our TV screens. The show was a massive success and a favourite with millions of people across the world!
Will and Grace ran for 8 seasons, aired nearly 200 episodes and won 16 Emmy’s. The show will be returning for a 9th season with 12 new episodes. The full cast will also be returning for the revival as well. The show was so brilliant because of it’s cutting edge wit and focus on important social issues of its time. The show was one of NBC’s most successful ever!
“We’re thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and most defining comedies in NBC history is coming back,”
“This groundbreaking series for everything from gay rights to social and political commentary — all disguised as a high-speed train of witty pop culture — is coming back where it belongs.”- Robert Greenblatt, NBC entertainment chairman
Will and Grace will obviously focus on modern social issues. In September 2016 the cast did a reunion skit for the American election about the importance of voting. The clip quickly went viral and was the main driving force behind the show being revived.
The announcement was made on Twitter by Megan Mullally who plays high-pitched Karen Walker. She tweeted a photo of the cast sitting with their backs facing the camera. Karen has her signature martini in hand and the image is cleverly titled ‘Back this fall.’
While no official date has been set yet, this is exciting and promising news for all fans!
