As the weather cools down and winter starts creeping in, we tend to be more excited to stay home so here are some things you can do while keeping warm.
South Africa (04 May 2021) – Preparing for winter may not feel necessary—or even be top of mind—this time of year, but starting now will help you make sure you’re fully prepared for when the cold season arrives. If your area experiences harsh winters, where it’s just too cold to step outside, create a plan for how you’d like to spend your days indoors.
Here is a list of ways you can prepare yourself for when winter finally arrives
Get cosy for those cold days in
When winter hits, updating your bedroom is a must, get out those thick duvet covers and maybe even a brand new bed to make those cold days and nights even cosier. For entertainment, make sure you have a TV set accompanied by a soundbar might not be a bad idea. There is nothing like watching your favourite Netflix series in cinema style. Make sure you have all the snacks you need to make the occasion even better.
Games? Yes, please!
With Winter approaching, make sure you have enough entertainment to keep the family busy during those cold days and nights. One way to battle boredom is to take out your board games and get competitive! No better way to have a good time than gathering those around you and playing some games. Don’t own any games? A deck of cards can go a long way. From poker, Go‐fish or Black Jack, there are many ways to have fun with the family.
Use this time to recharge your batteries
Practising self‐care techniques now can help build strong habits you can use in the future when things may become more stressful. Take this time to catch up on sleep, try out some meditation or breathing exercises. You can start a gratitude journal or even make time for your favourite hobbies. What matters is to focus and prioritise yourself.
Get active!
You know that saying, ‘Summer bodies are made in winter’? Well, that’s the truth! How about using this time indoors to get your body in shape for the warmer days. A great way to do this is by setting up a home gym for yourself. There are also plenty of fitness apps available which allow you to keep track of your progress. A useful tip: Teljoy allows you to rent‐to‐own the gym equipment you need which allows you to keep fit from the comfort of your home. The best part about this is that you have the option to take ownership of the equipment after the predetermined rental period.
Spring clean your home
Who said spring cleaning is only for Spring? Use this time to tidy up your home. Pick up a broom and start sweeping the floors, or clean your walls from top to bottom. You can also rearrange your cupboards and finally clear out that storeroom filled with all the old junk. Put together a playlist with everyone’s favourite music to play while you’re cleaning and you might find yourself enjoying every moment of it.
