Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries performs live in concert at F1 Rocks at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne, Australia.

Zombie was written by Dolores O’Riordan in 1993 after two young boys were killed in a bombing by IRA militants in the UK. Her song is still incredibly relevant today as wars continue.

Dolores O’Riordan, the lead singer of the iconic band ‘The Cranberries’, has sadly passed away. The world is mourning the talented lead singer and songwriter.

O’Riordan was the sole songwriter behind her band’s most iconic song to date. Zombie was written by the talented artist after two young boys were killed by a bomb the Irish Republican Army had placed to dispell the British Army from Northern Ireland. The song is now relevant to every war and every bomb that is dropped and every gun that is fired.

Zombie has been played on YouTube over 660 million times since it was uploaded to the video site in 2009. At the time of writing this story, Zombie was third on the chart for the top songs bought on iTunes.

A choir created a beautiful cover of the amazing song. We share this in honour of the late Dolores O’Riordan.
