You have already won! Your dignity, diversity and courage are infectious. You have restored South African rugby’s pride and made us all feel good about ourselves.

Hermanus, South Africa – Archbishop Desmond Tutu has a message for the Springboks!

Well-known around the world for his anti-apartheid activism, Tutu, who turned 88 this year and is now retired, has kept away from public life in recent times but his presence in South Africa continues to be a positive one. The last time the Nobel Peace Prize winner was in the news was when he cast his vote in the South African elections.

This time around, he is in the news for his special message to the Boks ahead of the Rugby World Cup final on Saturday.

Read his message below:

Captain of the nation, Siya Kolisi, ou Rassie, Chessie, en al die manne: Siyabulela! Ngiyabonga! Thank you!

Your dignity, diversity and courage are infectious. You have restored South African rugby’s pride, and made us all feel good about ourselves. A World Cup Final is a highly pressured environment, but if you feel weightless when you run onto that Yokohama field on Saturday it will be because you are being carried by the love, respect and prayers of 56 million of us at home.

You have already won!

God bless you.

Love

Archbishop Desmond Tutu
