Good Things Guy - Brent Lindeque - We rise by lifting each other!

This is the story about how one South African created a global event carried out by millions of people, and then created South Africa’s top good news site to keep telling those stories!

Johannesburg, South Africa (3 February 2020) – Good Things Guy is on a mission to change what the world pays attention to. We believe that there is good news all around us and over 1 million readers a month agree with us. We hunt down and report on the best Good News stories from South Africa, and the World.

Our mission is to change the national conversation and give South Africans a balance to the news in South Africa.

Good Things Guy is dedicated to telling good stories & we like to share things that inspire. The award-winning platform is one of the leading good news sites in South Africa & has grown from one person with a simple idea to a full team that brings good news to South Africans every day.

“Making a difference starts with one person. You can be that person. Be the difference that impacts our world!”

Good Things Guy was officially launched on the 1 August 2015 in order to only promote good news, inspirational stories and promote only positive, upbeat media. Good Things Guy is a global, multi-platform media company that distils unique content across multiple media platforms.

But before Good Things Guy, the online Good News site was born, Brent Lindeque did something. What started as a simple idea to try and better one person’s day, turned into a global event carried out by millions of people. The ‘RAK initiative’ was all about giving back & helping those in need.

It all started when Brent Lindeque, a young South African, turned the reckless drinking game Neknominations on its head – by using his nomination to instead perform a random act of kindness. By giving a homeless man a R20 meal, and using the power of social media to “pay-it-forward,” his nomination went viral and to date has been featured locally on Carte Blanche, Espresso, 5Fm, eNCA, News24, Radio702 and internationally on Mashable, Huffington Post, CNN, BBC, Sky News, Oprah and even Ellen Degeneres to name a few.

Lindeque saw himself becoming a LeadSA Hero, was selected as one of Africa’s most promising Entrepreneurs and also chosen as one of the prestigious Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans.

More importantly, his small act of kindness spawned hundreds and thousands of similar videos, reaching and physically improving millions of lives and in addition creating three dedicated feeding schemes in Canada, the USA and Ireland that are still running to this day.

Good Things Guy recently partnered with a brand who wanted to tell the story, and this is what they created.

“My life over the past 6 years has been the biggest most awesome adventure where I am constantly afforded the opportunity to make a difference in so many peoples lives. I am thankful every day for what I get to do.

Looking back at what started Good Things Guy is so incredibly humbling.”
