The brutal truth about Happiness in modern society told in less than 5 minutes…
You’re likely familiar with the works of Steve Cutts, a London-based illustrator who aptly depicts our daily grievances and society’s many shocking truths that we absurdly accept as normal. In his most recent animation short titled “Happiness,” Steve uses rats to symbolize the rat race we’re all so familiar with.
A brilliant analogy to life on Earth, Happiness tells the story of a rodent’s unrelenting quest for happiness and fulfilment and this short video will have you questioning your true definition of happiness.
The short starts with a rodent running alone in a void (individuality) then the (assuming the rat is male) joins a flock of his peers as they chase their way through society moving through a world of hyper-capitalism looking for that one thing to give them that feeling of happiness while coping with the stresses and wants of modern society.
You’ll soon see other startling similarities — a clearly depressed, overcrowded society surrounded by ads guaranteeing happiness via cologne, clothes, film, and drugs.
The truth is that everyone’s trying to find it but we look for it in all the wrong places. We try to find it in materialistic things that only last so long, till we go looking for the next new thing, expecting it to make us happy.
Take 4 minutes out of your busy day and watch the clip for yourself below, and tell us in the comments if you think Cutts hit the nail on the head:
