Sometimes, creating our own happiness can seem like an overwhelming task. Luckily, there are so many ways to learn the art (and science) of being happy, and one of Yale University’s most popular classes teaches exactly that, for free.

Global (23 April, 2023) — ‘How can I be happier?’ and ‘What is happiness’ actually all about?’.These question has plagued the human mind across time, cultures and circumstances. However, the art of creating our own happiness isn’t as ethereal as we’re sometimes led to believe.

At the risk of sounding like a motivational scatter cushion, happiness isn’t something we have to wait for. Sometimes it’s earned, but more often than not, it’s created.

So, how do we start? Where’s the school of happiness and how can we sign up?

The good news is that there are an abundance of resources to help us learn the art and science of happiness, and a lot of it begins with understanding our psychology and our psychological responses to life.

As many psychologists will tell you, our minds are designed to keep us alive, not necessarily happy.

And, as soon as we start putting together the puzzle of why we think and respond to certain happenings the way we do, we can start to take the medicine that is action.

Happiness isn’t expensive. And one incredible resource is the University of Yale’s ‘The Science of Well-Being’ available for teens and adults alike.

The teen addition came about after a survey shared that 37% of teenagers shared that their mental health was struggling. The course was designed to ‘curb this mental health crisis’ through one of Yale’s most popular courses affectionately known as ‘The Happiness Course’.

The course focuses on lectures by psychology professor, Laurie Santos from her class, ‘Psychology and the Good Life.’ It challenges what people think will make them happy, versus what actually can in six weeks.

If you’re looking to take your happiness into your own hands in a guided way, you can enrol for the price of nothing more than your time.
