OUTA, in collaboration with other civil organisations, have released a message from South Africans to the President… they are calling it the ‘Real State of the Nation’.
OUTA (Organization Undoing Tax Abuse) released the video the day before SONA2017 which is being shared widely on social media platforms.
“We as a civil society feel it is important to show the real state of the South African nation, especially after yesterday’s announcement that more than four hundred soldiers will be deployed to parliament to assist police and security personnel in maintaining the order during the president’s speech.”
“Why would a president order extra protection if he is truly addressing the needs of the nation?”
In the video, various South Africans address the real issues plaguing South Africa, ranging from a failing economy to growing unemployment, a health care system in shambles and an education department that fails to deliver even the most basic education to the majority of our country’s children.
Add to this a lack of basic service delivery and a president whom the Constitutional Court found to have broken his oath of office to uphold, promote and defend the Constitution.
“South Africans are tired of hearing the same rhetoric about plans and policies. We are tired of broken promises and desperate to see some real action to address these issues.”
“South Africans deserve better than a failing economy and the vicious circle of unemployment, poverty and crime resulting from it.”
“We are a nation in crisis, and it is time for us as civil society to step up and work together to save South Africa.”
The post has already been viewed over 100 000 times with South Africans all agreeing with the sentiment of the powerful video.
Winnie De Pass commented: “Wow absolutely powerful. We the people are behind you.”
Ace Paleis added: “Love it!, Great summary touching critical points. Very informative ie. I did not know african countries like Rwanda and DRC have higher growth rates than ourselves.”
Mariette Brasher said: “Well at last a South Africans are speaking up. Good on you . Something must be put back in our nation. THE SPIRIT of taking a stand.”
Maxwell Thatyana posted: “Its saddens that the president has turned parliament into a war zone, which country has the president ordered soldiers to join parliament?.. zuma is a mad person.”
