Shelter Animals

Hills recruited shelter animals from TEARS for their new campaign, in the process they wanted to find forever homes and all 4 pets were adopted to new homes.

Digby and his friends, Imogen, Honey and TJ were from the TEARS animal rescue in Cape Town. They were “hired” to be the faces of a new campaign by Hills. In return Hills found each of them a forever home and covered the adoption fee’s.

“Digby and the Gang, four shelter pets (from TEARS Animal Rescue in Cape Town), were recently chosen to model in a marketing campaign.”

“Just as some brands are using ‘real people’, Hill’s Pet Nutrition decided to use real dogs, and then help them find homes. As a result of their new-found fame all four are going to new ‘furever’ families. Good news all round.”

Each pet is the face of one of the foods in Hill’s Prescription Diet i/d gastrointestinal range. Imogen was absolutely ideal for Hill’s i/d Stress, which contains ingredients shown to help alleviate stress. When she arrived at TEARS the gorgeous ‘Border Shepherd’ had severe anxiety. Since eating Hill’s i/d Stress she is relaxed, playful and friendly.

“As a tribute to all pets waiting for their forever homes, we chose to feature local shelter pets rather than use professionals or stock pix for this campaign,” explains Carla Bath, Marketing Manager for Hill’s Pet Nutrition South Africa.

“Digby and the Gang are the cute noses, paws and tails that bring our Prescription Diet i/d range to life.”

“We have almost 200 gorgeous, healthy cats and dogs up for adoption. The behind-the-scenes video and stunning images of Digby and Gang show how immensely adoptable they are, ready and worthy to join loving families.” – Mandy Store, Operations Manager at TEARS Animal Rescue
