Spur has put up new posters letting mom’s know that they 100% support Breastfeeding in their restaurant. Mom’s are loving the support!
We have never quite understood the upset caused by mom’s breastfeeding their babies in public. If a baby is hungry, you can’t let it starve because you are out and about.
Well, Spur feels the same way and recently stuck up some very encouraging posters. The posters read “Breastfeeding Welcome” and they go into detail about why they are welcoming the harmless and totally natural act in their family restaurant.
“It is a lawful act in South Africa for women to breastfeed a child in public. Breastfeeding plays an important role in early childhood development due to its health and well-being benefits”
The sign goes on to list a few guidelines to adhere to the law and ends off with,
“Spur is a family-friendly restaurant, which places a great amount of emphasis on families, especially children; hence breastfeeding is welcomed at Spur”
They are even going as far as to train staff to ensure that women feel welcomed and are not ashamed.
“As a group with a large footprint across South Africa we’re taking a long-term view,” says Mark Farrelly Group Chief Operating Officer, Spur Corporation.
“South Africa can only grow if we are able to address the developmental challenges facing its citizens. By normalizing breastfeeding in our restaurants, we play our small part, contributing to the development of future leaders, the children.”
Mom’s everywhere are thanking Spur for their efforts in making public spaces safe for mom’s and their children.
