Stop Bullying Be Kind Bully

An incredibly heartbreaking story of a little 4 year old who was bullied on his first day of school, is a lesson to every single one of us.

Tanya Muir, a heartbroken mother to a 4 year old who had been bullied on his first day of “big school”, posted an important message to a Facebook group. A message to remind parents, teachers and adults that children learn everything from their peers. Even Bullying.

So just be kind.

Her note was one of kindness, to share it, teach it and ultimately create children who have it. It was a little note to everyone out there who want children to grow up and be the best they can be.

“Be kind. Teach your children even at the tender age of 4 years old, teach them to be smart, to smile, to laugh, to love, to care, to protect others, to learn, to grow, to understand others and to be kind.

Today my beautiful boy and I had a heart to heart about what has happened in ours lives over the last week and me, trying not to cry while watching how he was processing what happened… I wondered to myself how can kids be so cruel.”

“They keep calling me fatty” he said with a quivering lip.

Tanya’s son started at a new school for a grade 00 class, big school as they called it and he was super excited. After taking photos and waving to his mom and dad during a big brave goodbye. Tanya left an incredibly happy, excited boy at his new big school. Knowing it was going to be a hard week with a new school, new teachers and new friends, Tanya was confident that he seemed happy.

“When I fetched him from school after his first day, I saw a broken little boy. It took a week for him to open up to me but I knew that day, when I picked him up, on his very first day of a big school, that he was being bullied.

Two boys and one girl followed him around school and bullied him in the short four days he was at that school. Four days of him being called names and being laughted at. I should have known on the first day as the group of kids ran after us calling him and taunting him, laughing at him while saying he’s so fat.”

Tanya approached the school but she didn’t feel comfortable with the fact that it happened in the first place, so opted to find a new school for her son; one where he could thrive.

“There were a few things that happened in those few days, everyday was an emotional battle both for me and him. I was a wreck when I finally got in my car after convincing him it would be okay, while he clung to my pants refusing to go inside the school grounds.

I spoke to the school but after running through the pros and cons of their decision, I decided to find a new school for him. I do know that people out there need to go with their gut feelings and protect their children.”

Tanya’s post was not to name and shame the school as he was only there for 4 days but her message is to try and get parents out there to teach kindness to their children.

“Ever wonder how and why your children do what they do? It’s because they learn it from us as parents. I have a soft side, I also have a hot tempered side and my beautiful boy has that to. So my message to you is to be kind and in turn teach your children to be kind.

I just wanted to get a message out there that kindness goes a long way and if kids at an early age of 4 can be kind then we know we are on the right track for the next generation.

Just be kind.

As I watch him sleeping now, I know he will be alright, at 4 years old, he has all a mom could wish for… a loving heart and he is so kind.

Just be kind.”
