Bullying can take place anywhere and comes in many different forms — from spreading rumors, to posting inappropriate photos, to threatening someone.

It’s being mean or hurtful in a way that scares or upsets someone else and Facebook are taking steps to help teens, parents and educators to put a stop to bullying completely.

People come to Facebook to share their stories, see the world through the eyes of others and connect with friends and family. The Facebook mission is to give people the power to share and to make the world more open and connected but they also want everyone to feel safe when using Facebook.

We work with external experts, including a Safety Advisory Board, and gather feedback from our community to develop policies, tools and resources to keep you safe.

The massive social media site launched the “Bullying Prevention Hub” in 2013 but it constantly updated with the main focus on stopping bullying completely.

Developed in partnership with the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, the Bullying Prevention Hub is a resource for teens, parents and educators seeking support and help for issues related to bullying and other conflicts. It offers step-by-step plans, including guidance on how to start some important conversations for people being bullied, parents who have had a child being bullied or accused of bullying, and educators who have had students involved with bullying.

“With the new Bullying Prevention Hub, we’ll be arming bullying victims with information on what they can do when they see harassing content, recommendations to adults who want to help, and even guidance to the person accused of bullying on what he or she has done and how he or she can do better.”

“These scripts and accompanying information are the result of years of groundbreaking research from dozens of community organizations, academics, and others on the topic of bullying prevention. Rather than simply focusing on awareness of this information, we’re putting it at people’s fingertips at the moment they need it most.”

The Bullying Prevention Hub includes sections for teens and friends, parents, and educators, as well as the following safety and security tools grouped together in one easy-to-find menu:

  • Reporting bullying
  • Community standards
  • Social reporting
  • Reporting guide
  • Manage privacy settings
  • How to block a friend
  • How to remove a friend
  • Facebook Help Center

Bullying is very difficult for children, or anyone, to deal with. It makes you feel afraid and degraded and often it makes a person feel like they are worthless. Unfortunately, bullying also makes you stop wanting to go out because you are scared you might see the person bullying you.
