The Swartland Municipality K9 Unit recently aided in a big drug bust; the bust means fewer drugs on the streets to help in combatting abuse and poverty.
Malmesbury, South Africa (01 March 2022) – The South African Police Services (SAPS) in Malmesbury recently executed a search warrant. With the help of the Swartland K9 unit, they were able to perform a substantial drug bust.
The bust took place on the 23rd of February 2022. The Swartland K9 unit has an excellent track record since its inception in October 2020. The unit is crucial in the war against drugs and has played a critical role in several drug busts while working with the Provincial Traffic Department and SAPS during routine traffic stops on the N7 and R27.
The dogs were able to sniff out a substantial amount of drugs on the premises, as well as a weapon and ammunition. The bust included findings of:
- 12 whole Mandrax tablets,
- 16 half Mandrax Tablets,
- 3 bankies crushed mandrax and
- 10 bankies tik,
- a revolver and
- ammunition
The drugs, ammunition and firearm were confiscated, and the suspect was arrested on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as the possession of illegal narcotics. He will be charged and is scheduled to appear in front of the Malmesbury Magistrate Court.
