donald trump idiot google

Turns out when you search the word “idiot” into a Google image search and hit enter, Trump is all you will get to see!

President Donald Trump might describe himself as a “very stable genius” and claim he has one of the highest IQs in the world but right now, he’s making the top five image search results for anyone that types the word “idiot” into Google.

The likely explanation is the recent attempt by activists in the UK to make the Green Day song “American Idiot” No. 1 when the president was in the country last week.

Time magazine explained that: “Protestors, activists and Internet users are seeking to influence Google’s algorithm so that when the term “idiot” is searched for, images of Trump pop up on Google. This began when British protestors used the Green Day hit “American Idiot” as the anthem for their demonstrations during Trump’s recent visit to the U.K. But now more users are taking advantage of that online association by up-voting a picture of Trump and the word “idiot” on Reddit.”

The Google algorithm looks at the relationship between words, phrases, websites, images and videos in an attempt to provide better search results for its users.

Outcomes like the Trump-idiot connection have been less common since Google changed its algorithm in 2007.

Other infamous pairings include:

  • Mitt Romney and “completely wrong”
  • George W. Bush and “miserable failure”
  • Scientology and “dangerous cult”
  • Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and “buffone” “Murder” and “abortion”
