Who Told You That in Order to Win, Everyone Else Has to Lose?

The last two and a half years have been long, incredibly tough, and everyone’s pretty tired. Maybe, just maybe, we should be helping each other… helping everyone win?

Johannesburg, South Africa (11 August 2022) – Who told you that in order to win, everyone else has to lose?

This was a conversation I had last night with a new friend at Padel – yes, I meet the cult twice a week, and we play the game. And it is a glorious game. I may even be investing in Padel shoes today… to go with my bat, balls and bag. This “movement” is properly worse than Herbalife, but I do love it.

I digress.

Why are humans so siff? Me and a group of friends were chatting about how people – for some reason – believe that in order to “win” in business, friendships and everything else in between, there has to be a loser?!

I mean, in Padel, you might not win that point, but we’ll still scream at the top of our lungs in the hopes that you do!

Blowing out someone else’s candle won’t make yours shine brighter. In fact, it does the complete opposite! It makes you look like a proper chop. Maybe instead of blowing out someone’s candle or light… cheer for them!

“I cheer for people. I was raised to believe there’s enough sun for everybody. Call me crazy, but I love to see people happy and succeeding. It inspires me to want to do better.”

Life is a journey, not a competition, and I just want to see everyone winning.

The last two and a half years have been long, incredibly tough, and everyone’s pretty tired. Plus, we rarely open up about what we’re really going through. Everyone is fighting in a fight club you know nothing about… because we don’t talk about fight club. Even though you cannot be responsible for someone else’s feelings, perspective on life or self-esteem, do not contribute to their struggle.

Our job is not to judge. Our job is not to figure out if someone deserves something. Our job is to lift the fallen, to restore the broken and to heal the hurting. That’s our job… to help each other succeed in life.

We rise by lifting each other.

So if you’re reading this, I’m rooting for you. Hell, I’m standing in the front row with pom-poms and a celebration bottle of champagne. I am screaming at the top of my lungs for you to win! I am building you up and giving you all the good vibes.

That’s it. When one of us wins, we all do.

Okay. Love you. Bye.
