Minister of Police, Fikile Mbalula has tweeted that Jacob Zuma will be stepping down as President of the ANC this weekend but is it really true?
Before getting your hopes up, Jacob Zuma is only stepping down as President of the ANC, not as President of the country. He will only step down as the President of South Africa once the national elections take place or if he is booted out.
After seeing the tweet we quickly checked our calendars and can confirm that today is not April 1st. We had to do a double take because, for a moment, we thought it was the best news ever. It is not yet known if this tweet is a reliable source and no other publications (at the time of posting this) have written about the tweet.
It is known that the Minister of Police is already in trouble for his tweeting habits so who knows but speculation has been running wild but it will happen during the ANC conference which takes place from the 16th to the 20th of December.
Everyone was waiting to see when exactly he would step down so it will most likely be on Sunday. They say the new leader will be selected on Monday.
Apparently, Zuma is very happy and ready to step down as the party leader.

People have responded to the tweet with a variety of opinions and feelings so here is a round-up of the best ones. It is very evident that the South African people are done with the current leadership in South Africa.
Damn….I heard "step down" and I got excited then everything was ruined by "President of the ANC"
