The Grace Factory set the goal of reaching 1000 new mothers this Mandela Day, and thanks to thousands of sponsors and helpers, they reached the goal.

South Africa (19 July 2022) – The Grace Factory started its Mandela Day preparations early this year by packing 1000 bags filled with baby essentials for new mothers in government hospitals. Yesterday, they changed 1000 lives and filled 1000 moms with joy before they set off home with their babies.

The Grace Factory, an NPO that gives practical assistance to moms and babies in need during the first few weeks of motherhood and infancy, stresses the importance of doing so. The organisation packs the items into gift sets and delivers them to new moms in government hospitals all over South Africa. The packs consist of basic necessities such as clothes, blankets, toiletries, nappies and a few things for mom.

They do this all year round, but Mandela Day is always the biggest, most exciting handout. This year the goal was to reach 1000 mothers, and they did it! The Grace Factory visits the maternity wards of Government hospitals and surprises the new moms who are about to give birth or have just given birth.

They visited Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital yesterday and the rest of the packs will be distributed between Gauteng and Free State, where the need is greatest.

“1000 vulnerable mothers will have all the essentials they need for their babies thanks to the incredible support we have received!”

“We are always amazed at how many people, including various corporates, get in touch to offer their assistance. Because of the kindness of many South Africans, we are able to make a difference in the lives of so many mothers and babies.”
