Caelam has faced a mountain of health challenges and recently underwent high-risk scoliosis surgery, leaving his parents with the daunting task of raising R50,000 for his post-surgery recovery. But help came in the nick of time as Hot Cares stepped in, providing the full amount needed.

Roodepoort, South Africa (10 February 2025) – At 12 years old, a little boy’s worries should only look at finishing his homework in time to play soccer with his friends before sunset, making sure his room is tidy before mom gets back from work – or other simple hassles. Not having to fight for his life.

Young Caelam has battled more challenges than most of us could ever imagine.

This young boy, worthy to be praised as a warrior, was born with severe medical conditions, including hearing loss, clubfoot, and low muscle tone.

According to Hot Cares, he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 18 months old, followed by hyperthyroidism, petit mal epilepsy, muscle neuropathy, and severe scoliosis.

Despite being non-verbal and having a short bone structure, his resilience and fighting spirit have inspired everyone around him, including the Hot Cares team.

After learning about his turbulent health journey and his recent high-risk scoliosis surgery earlier this month, they stepped in to assist.

While his parents, Lize and Kobus, have done everything to give him the best care, they required R50,000 for Caelam’s post-surgery recovery—including physiotherapy and specialised equipment.

In a heartwarming turn of events Hot Cares kindly came through with the funds required for Caelam to heal and recover!

“When we heard Caelam’s story, we knew we had to act. His unwavering spirit, coupled with the incredible love and dedication of his parents, Lize and Kobus, reminded us why we do what we do,” Hot Cares said.

This support, a real-life miracle, has not only lifted a family’s great financial burden but has also given a boy a chance to continue his fight to live a life free from pain and thrive.
