200 homeless people were given a warm bowl of porridge and a care pack to keep them warm over the coming weekend and through the cold spell.
Johannesburg, South Africa (13 August 2021) – The Angel Network launched its annual winter campaign back in May to provide warm care packs to homeless people within the regions they operate. The care pack is designed to be compact, all the while providing warmth to the person who receives it.
Each care pack contains a sleeping bag, pillow, blanket and warm meal (usually in the form of soup packets). Each pack needs only a small donation of R360.00, and it will last the recipient an entire winter season and beyond.
In preparation for the very chilly weekend ahead, the Angel Network Team set out to help people in their area. That means 200 homeless people have been prepared to get through this very cold weekend.
“Late yesterday afternoon was extremely heartwarming in the freezing cold. We fed 200 homeless people with soup and bread and gave them each a Cosy comfort pack with a sleeping bag, pillow, blanket and porridge. The gratitude was immense! Thank you to Clive Mashishi and his team at Clive Mashishi Foundation for running the event so smoothly, to Rand Plastics for the containers, to Nick from Meze for the delicious Pita Breads and to CAP and CSO who were making sure everyone was safe. Thank you to everyone who sponsored Cosy comfort packs, we are extremely grateful! 200 people have fuller tummy’s and were warmer last night because you cared! THANK YOU!”
