Imagine getting a job offer from the “World’s Most Followed Person” on YouTube with over 127 million subscribers. Well, a South African just did… and we could not be prouder!
Johannesburg, South Africa (13 January 2023) – South African filmmaker, Dan Mace, has been signed on as Chief Creative Officer for the Beast Philanthropy YouTube Channel.
Mace is a Multiple award-winning Film Director, YouTuber, and Creator of “The BRU Show” for Warner Bros. Discovery. The South African award-winning director and YouTuber built an audience of close to 800,000 subscribers on the video platform based on his remarkable ability to commercialise his creativity – remember his lockdown wedding that went viral?
Well, Mace has now joined forces with MrBeast, an American currently ranked as the “World’s Most Followed Person” on YouTube with over 127 million subscribers and 208 million subscribers across all of his channels on the platform.
To put that into perspective, that is around 1.8% of the World’s Population, which is a gargantuan amount of eyes pointing in his direction at all times.
While he is known for his elaborate stunts and giveaways in his videos, he also uses his platform for good in the form of his Philanthropy channel, which was created in September 2020. The Beast Philanthropy channel runs a charity and food bank, which leverages the power of the social media outreach of all of the Beast channels to help raise funds to alleviate hunger, homelessness, and unemployment in the world. The idea was born when Jimmy thought about how to use the money he earns on YouTube to help make a difference in the world and inspire positive change.
Already experiencing success as an award-winning film director, YouTuber and business owner in his own right, Dan first met with the Beast Philanthropy team after they approached his creative agency, JOE, to help produce one of their videos in South Africa at the end of last year.
The project proved a huge success as Beast Philanthropy announced their plan to rebuild an Orphanage in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, over the next six months.
In the latest video, Beast Philanthropy kicks off the mammoth task of renovating 12 houses at the orphanage and committing to providing some financial relief to the organisation to help keep their doors open. This project was close to Dan’s heart as it showcased his fellow South Africans who are going above and beyond to help those in need by providing a safe haven for these orphaned children. The Beast Philanthropy channel commits to using 100% of its advertising revenue, brand deals, and merchandise sales for charity.
When Dan heard that MrBeast was offering him the position as Chief Creative Officer of the Philanthropy Channel, he jumped at the opportunity as it felt like the perfect fit.
Dan has always aimed to use his own voice to inspire his viewers through his unique style of storytelling and perspective by affecting social change through the YouTube platform.
What a flipping good news story!
