On the morning of the 16th of June, Sieg Assor and Dan Lecage from Hatfield VW Bryanston assisted huddleUP with their Youth Day initiative for the children from Orange Farm Orphanage.
“A very generous donation of shoes, jackets and clothing was made and we needed help in transporting everything to Orange Farm Orphanage. We contacted the Amarok Test Drive Initiative and they jumped on board right away and assisted us plentiful with all of our deliveries.”
On the way to Orange Farm huddleUP met with all of the volunteers at The Cookery in Craighall, where they collected the food they had all prepared the night before.
The Cookery event was initiated when they knew that they were catering to 100 children for Youth Day so Paul Maciel, opened up his cookery on the evening of the 15th and invited everyone to take part in making magic.
“We prepared 10kgs of coleslaw, Pots and pots of pumpkin soup, tomato relish and 3 large chocolate cakes.
While the children were excited about their new shoes, it was the face painting, marie biscuits decorating and drawing corner that kept the children grinning from ear to ear before they sat to enjoy their meals.
Hatfield VW Bryanston supported them with the #AmarokTestDrive, which is an initiative that assists in delivering supplies to people that need them most.
“200 shoes were fitted in various sizes for the children and Sieg Assor and Dan Lecage did so much in helping us get everything to our event, as well as cooking all of the food for the children. The ultimate braai masters.”
Paul and Emilio from The Cookery still managed to feed double of who was expected and we had so many satisfied children with full stomachs and wrapped up feet.
“The volunteers were magnificent, everyone played their part and we consider ourselves very lucky with the support we have been getting throughout the years with our projects. It’s a great way for us to play our part and give back. We have a very special bond with Nnini and the children and have been involved in Orange Farm for years.”
Thank you to everyone who was involved in the preparation of the food and for supporting our initiative, the volunteers who made the entire day a wonderful day filled with much laughter.
It is because of you that these children smile.
