Amber-Rose Berry has inspired the surrounding False Bay communities by becoming the youngest person to swim across the bay from Miller’s Point to Rooiels.
False Bay, South Africa (08 December 2023) – 16-year-old Amber-Rose Berry has become the youngest person to swim across False Bay and her community are so proud. Many have shared their words of awe and congratulations for the daring swim.
Amber-Rose set off with the goal in mind and she achieved it. The Miller’s Point starting point to the Rooiels finish line is around a 34km swim.
Amber-Rose started her swim at around 5 am with the goal of completing it by 3 pm. Her mom, Karen Berry, had taken to the Kleinmond / Betty’s Bay / Pringle Bay Community Facebook page to share the news of Amber-Rose’s mission and to encourage the community to be there when she finished.
Once the incredible swim had been completed, Karen shared the update and thanked the community for their support.
“Amber-Rose finished this epic swim in 9 and a half hours. She picked up speed towards the end, and as such caused chaos for those trying to get to the beach to watch her finish…including myself. Heehee. I tried to update this post, but couldn’t get connection at the beach I time. Apologies for any inconvenience.
Amber-Rose and I would like to send a HUGE thanks to all of you for your messages, encouragement and efforts to pop down to the finish. What an absolutely amazing community we have – Thank You. We now have the youngest person to have completed this swim, as a proud member of our community!” – Karen Berry
The Chalkboard on the Beach even shared a word of congratulations for the inspiring teen. Well done on your achievement and hard work Amber-Rose!
