The Bikers doing the “Ride for a Child 2022” ride around South Africa have completed 5000km of their 7000km trip to raise funds for children in need.

South Africa (28 February 2022) – A group of Bikers have been riding around South Africa, raising funds to cover medical care for Pediatric Care Africa. The riders have clocked over 5000km so far and have a further 2000km until they reach the end of the trip.

This marks the 3rd annual motorcycle ride around the border of South Africa, which started on the 13th of February 2022 and ends in White River, Mpumalanga, on the 5th of March 2022.

The ride is in aid of covering the cost of 70 surgeries for underprivileged children in the care of Pediatric Care Africa.  Pediatric Care Africa is a collaborative non-profit organisation between South Africa and the Netherlands. The organisation provides life-saving assistance and hope for less fortunate children in the local communities and throughout Africa.

The journey has not been for the faint-hearted. They have faced sweltering heat, torrential rain and even a swarm of locusts in Springbok. Every challenging kilometre was made up for when the crew visited places like the Jogébed Child and Youth Care Centre in Upington or the Nazareth Children’s Home in Cape Town.

They have been blessed by kindness at each point and have seen just how much good can be done when raising awareness. Every community on their journey came out in support of children.

“Our goal with this our 3rd “ride for a child charity motorbike ride” around South Africa is to raise R250,000 as part of the funds required to provide medical treatment, surgeries and nutritional assistance to sick children in need and in food distress.

R250,000 is not enough by far, but it is a good start to our 2022 fundraising effort to enable Pediatric Care Africa to assist children who need a helping hand.”
