Burno is a car guard in Edenvale who feeds the birds using his tip money. He buys a bag of bird feed every few days and feeds them because it brings him joy.
The community of Edenvale started sharing Bruno’s story on their Facebook group. It started back in November 2016 when Natasha Bird spotted Bruno feeding the birds.
“Every day he feeds the birds using money received from tips to buy birdseed at the Spar. He says the birds make him happy and have come to rely on him feeding them. He’s my inspiration for this week – doing good and expecting nothing in return ✨ Bless your beautiful heart Bruno” – Natasha Bird
Natasha then visited Bruno and gifted him a 10kg bag of bird feed. Fast forward to this week and Samantha Van Der Berg went to visit Bruno to see how he was doing.
After speaking to him she learned he spends a large chunk of his money on bird feed and asked her community to chip in every now and then with some seed so he can take more money home.
“Today I had the opportunity to get to chat to Bruno. I found out that 1kg of bird food last him +-3 days. 1kg garden bird seed at the spar costs R13.99. I would like to encourage the community to please support Bruno even if its just to buying a 1kg bag of bird food once in a while.” – Samantha Van Der Berg
This act of kindness won’t change the world but sometimes it is the little things that count.
