The Child Welfare South Africa group in Roodepoort cooked up a soul-nourishing batch of soup and handed out blankets to underprivileged children in the area
Volunteers from Child Welfare South Africa Roodepoort (CWSAR) made underprivileged children’s winter nights a little bit cosier thanks to the gift of hand-knitted blankets, scarves and beanies, clothes and a warm helping of nourishing winter soup.
The organisation believes that ‘every child deserves respect, and an opportunity to live a life filled with love, dreams and possibilities, to go to bed at night on a full stomach, wrapped in a warm blanket.’
The organisation offers child protection through social work services like foster care, Children’s Court Proceedings and community programmes.
CWSAR teamed up with 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day, to hand out hand-sewn or crocheted blankets to the children. They felt the need to donate 67 blankets to the children of Bram Fischerville with CWSAR at the Bram Fischer Multipurpose Centre. The handout would ensure these children have a blanket to keep them warm through the chilly July cold spells.
The children and their mothers were treated to a cup of hot soup, a cupcake, a roll, and a few lollipops on the day. These treats helped these children get a warm dose of love.
CWSAR relies on donations like this to continue their work, if you would like to find out more about the organisation, you can check out their Facebook page here.
