Boksburg, South Africa (04 January 2023) – On the 24th of December 2022, a tragic explosion rocked the community of Boksburg in Gauteng. According to news reports, an LP gas tanker had gotten stuck under a low-lying bridge. It then exploded and killed more than 30 people, and sent over 50 people to the hospital. The accident also left many of the surrounding community damaged. The Angel Network has been highlighting the heroes who have helped the community since.

Handymen, electricians, donors and do-gooders have been supporting the community of Boksburg, to get back on their feet. The Angel Network has highlighted all the heroes that have helped.

Shortly after the accident, Clive Mashishi, and Linda and Gaofose Mbatha of the Sibambisene Foundation, set out to offer help wherever it was needed. With the help of The Angel Network’s donors and the South African Jewish Board of Deputies – Clive, Linda and Gaofose started doing repairs on homes affected by the explosion and delivering food to people in need.

“We have provided funding for repairs and supplies as well as counselling to 20 of the people who have been unimaginably affected by this tragedy. Under Clive’s guidance, repairs have been done to the old age home and other places damaged and electrical problems sorted out. Clive, Linda and Gaofose have met with numerous families to ascertain what is most urgently needed and in the coming days and weeks, we will be manning feeding stations at different wakes.” – The Angel Network

Pastor Tshepo Mosala and Prince Tamane joined the clean-up efforts by helping to install new glass windows at several homes closest to the blast radius.

The Sibambisene Foundation launched a crowdfund on BackaBuddy to offer further aid to the affected community. Many people still need to install new windows, treat mild burns and deal with the shock of such a tragic event. The area of Boksburg that was affected is severely impoverished so every cent donated will go towards helping these people.

“Thank you Linda and Gaofose Mbatha for delivering car loads of food to families shattered by the devastating tragedy in Boksburg. We are truly most appreciative” – The Angel Network
