Rubi’s Rainbow Of Hope has launched a book club challenge encouraging groups to collect sanitary pads when they meet up and donate them to young girls in need

Cape Town, South Africa – Rubi Nates has a very giving heart, she started collecting shoes for the needy in 2017 and then moved on to collecting books with the hopes it inspire the magic of reading. Now she has started a book club challenge that will enable young girls to go to school.

Rubi’s mother Janene met a young man that is working hard to prevent young girls from missing school because they lack adequate sanitaryware. Rubi’s Rainbow of Hope decided to start a collection on his behalf.

“Yesterday I met someone who told me 1st hand stories about the number of young girls he meets on a daily basis who are skipping school because they do not have tampons and sanitary pads.

We would love to do a collection for him to keep for these girls”

They encouraged book clubs to join the challenge and it has worked. Through the challenge, many book clubs have donated pads to the cause. They have already received 25 packs of sanitary pads and hope to do so much more in the next few weeks.

If you would like your book club to join the challenge, you can contact Janene via their Facebook group to make the arrangements. Janene also says other clubs are welcome, like supper clubs and the likes.

The pads will be delivered on the 1st of March and distributed to girls in need.
