Tristan had a soccer-themed birthday this year, but instead of asking for presents, he asked his friends to help him donate to his favourite animal charity.

Cape Town, South Africa – Tristan Hansen used his 10th birthday to do something good for animals. Instead of presents, he asked his friends to bring donations for Aid 4 Animals in Distress (Aid4AiD).

Aid4AiD is a group of animal lovers in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, wanting to help and make a difference to local animals in need. They started as a WhatsApp group and are now a fully fledged rescue organisation. They take in unwanted or abandoned animals and find new loving homes for them.

They are continually coming up with fun ways to raise funds for their cause, including scavenger hunts and bingo nights. They also always welcome smart ideas for raising funds, which is precisely what Tristan did for his birthday. They raised R3360.00 for the animal charity.

“Tristan turned 10 years old this week and had a lovely soccer birthday party. He asked all his guests to rather donate to his favourite animal charity than buy him any gifts. This selfless act meant that an amazing amount of R3360 was raised!”

Tristan and his family do more than just raise funds for the animal charity; they also foster puppies and kittens in need of some extra loving.

“We are blown away by this kind and compassionate boy who has opened his heart to all animals in need and wants to make a difference in their lives! Thank you to the whole Hansen family and especially Tristan for being a shining example of how we can make the world a better place”

The charity’s supporters were blown away by Tristan’s efforts to do some good and thanked him for his kind heart. Tristan’s mother Nicole thanked the team for giving Tristan the opportunity to help out and inspiring him to do more.

“Thank you Jess and everyone at Aid 4 animals in distress for all that you do. You have all inspired Tristan to be a better human and we are very proud of the young man he is becoming” – Nicole Dawn Hansen
