Hayden Gower from Buford, Georgia became a hero after saving the life of one of his classmates. The young boy was choking when Hayden performed the life saving act.

Hayden Gower is a 10 year old boy from Buford in Georgia, he managed to save his classmate from choking during their lunch break in the cafeteria. His classmate, Bryce Greeson, was eating a hot dog when it became lodged in his throat and he started choking.

“His face was red and he was putting his head down” – Hayden Gower

A second classmate, Xander Benitez, ran to get help from the school principal as teachers rushed in to help Bryce. Before the teachers could get close enough to the situation Hayden sprang into action and started performing the Heimlich maneuver. Hayden was able to dislodge the hot dog restoring calm to the panicked Bryce.

“I was just holding my throat, and I saw my life flash before my eyes, I felt like I was going to die, I felt scared, I felt… just horrible.” – Bryce Greeson

According to teachers Hayden then went and sat back at his table and continued with lunch as if nothing had happened. During all the media hype Hayden still feels it wasn’t a big deal and remains humble about the entire situation.

As a token of thanks for saving his life, Bryce bought each of the boys a Falcon’s Super Bowl shirt. The Principal at the school is now considering teaching the Heimlich maneuver to other students after seeing how effective and how quickly it managed to save a student. Aside from classes there are posters all over the cafeteria explaining how to do the Heimlich maneuver safely.
