SAPS Captain Ezra October played his part for South Africa by collaborating with Ladles of Love to feed the homeless of Cape Town.

South Africa (01 September 2020) – Everyone in society has a role to play; police officers are tasked with enforcing law and order, and protecting the citizens of the country. One officer went above and beyond his call of duty and helped feed a community in need.

The lockdown in South Africa has had a toll on some of the poorest communities, thankfully there are organisations and individuals who have stepped forward to address the need and provide aid to those struggling most.

Margolite Williams who works with the organisation Ladles of Love worked closely with SAPS Captain Ezra October in early July. They went out into communities to hand out warm meals. She shared her experience on social media, calling Captain October a “father of our community” for all his valuable efforts.

“I was privileged enough to spend the day with Captain Ezra October and his team of police angels. We all think of the police as people you call in when in a crisis. I see the side of the police that are building bridges in the community. I regard Captain Ezra as a “father of our community”. He treats everyone with respect and dignity. He travels around Cape Town all day delivering meals to the homeless communities. He serves food and mentors kids in city schools. I know Madiba looks down on these policemen and smiles. His vision and what he strives for, is carried out by these servicemen. I salute you and I am honoured to join hands with you.” – Margolite Williams

Captain October along with the Ladles of Love team visited homeless people living on the streets in Cape Town to give warm mealie meal porridge for breakfast. On the day they went out, it had been cold and rainy, typical of a Cape Town winters day. Take a look at some of the good shared on that cold winters day.
