The Breast Health Foundation is hosting a raffle to raise much-needed funds for the foundation; the funds are used to support newly diagnosed women.
South Africa (14 April 2021) – The Breast Health Foundation was established as a non-profit organisation in 2002 to help women, newly diagnosed with breast cancer, navigate their journey to recovery.
The Breast Health Foundation aims to raise awareness about breast cancer, breast health and offers support and counselling to women. Cancer is a life-changing diagnosis but it can be managed with the help and support of others.
The foundation relies on the generosity of donations from the public and corporate sector in South Africa. They use various methods to raise funds but their latest is a rewarding raffle.
“The money that is raised is used to teach women – those who have had and those who have not had breast cancer – to spread the word of the importance of self-examination and medical examinations. The BHF aims to put to rest myths surrounding breast cancer and to provide an open forum where women feel that they can come forward with their problems. Traditionally, women in Africa have been seen as the heart and soul of the family. By ensuring their health and by educating them, the health education messages are passed on to children, husbands and partners.”
All monies raised through the raffle will be in aid of the Patient Navigation Programme which provides guidance and support to women receiving treatment in the public health sector.
