“I am who I am today because of you” South African is going viral after thanking his mom with a new car!

Johannesburg, South Africa (15 January 2021) – Busisani Mhlambi is giving Mzansi all the feels with his emotional gift bought for his mom!

Mhlambi surprised his mom with a brand new car on the 7th of January 2021, but it’s the emotional post that caused the South African to go viral!

“You worked as a cleaner earning R1,200 a month, but still managed to put food on the table. You would pick up food in dustbins of OR Tambo and bring home for us to eat. You would go sell sweets at a school to put food on the table. Sometimes you would come home having sold only R5 worth of sweets and id be so excited knowing we’d be able to buy bread that day. It is, for this reason, I always buy from people selling stuff in the streets and on traffic lights even when I don’t need the things they sell because I know what that means to them.”

Looking back, Mhlambi remembered when he was younger how one day he found his mom spring cleaning the whole house trying to find R2 so that she could top up and buy mealie meal.

“When you couldn’t find it, you broke down into tears and said your wished you were dead, I went into my room and cried knowing how you felt. This happened more than 15 years ago, but I remember it very well.”

His mother also took a job cleaning snake cages despite her fear for snakes, just to put food on the table. Mhlambi says that to this day, his mother can’t even stand seeing a snake on tv because of the trauma she suffered from that job.

“Last year when I tested positive for Covid, risking your own life, you cooked food and brought it to me and called every day to find out how I was doing.

You taught us 2 things: To love and trust God in every situation and to love school.

I am what I am today all because of you, and owe all my successes to you. I could write a whole book on the sacrifices you made for us. You sacrificed yourself, literally for me to be where I am today.”

When Mhlambi went to university to study to become a CA(SA), his mother didn’t know what it was, so she told people that he was studying to be a CEO… a memory that the young student will never forget.

“Thank you for always listening to me, supporting me, taking an interest in things I do even though you don’t understand what they are.

Every time we talk about what we’ve been through; tears just start running down my face.
For all your sacrifices, thank you mom. I love you with all I am. Happy new year and enjoy your starter pack.”
