Despite having very little in her bank account, Caitlin couldn’t shake the feeling that she needed to do something kind for the cleaner she noticed at the gym during her regular treadmill run.

South Africa (04 April 2025) – It was during her treadmill run in the gym that Caitlin was stopped in her tracks to take a moment to pause and notice someone who could do with a random act of kindness.

Even though she only had R34 in her bank account, it didn’t stop Caitlin from acting on the tugging feeling to put a smile on a cleaner’s face who unexpectedly got her attention and had her asking herself when last she had done something nice for someone, just because.

In a touching TikTok video, Caitlin documented herself writing Bible verses and attaching them to 32 mini Kit-Kat chocolate bars that she had been able to purchase using Checkers Sixty60 credits and decorating them with yellow flowers picked from her garden to give to the cleaner she’d noticed earlier.

In her post, she provided context about how she had been watching Christian-inspired TikTok videos that touched on the importance of being good to other people – and how it was at that moment that she saw the cleaner.

“A voice in my head said, you need to give her something today,” Caitlin says in the video.

“I just thought to share this with you because maybe it will inspire you to also do a random act of kindness.”

You never really know the true impact you have on those around you. You never know how much someone needs a smile that you can so effortlessly put on their face.

Caitlin’s random act of kindness and post just goes to show that you don’t have to spend a lot of money or wait for circumstances to change or move mountains to brighten up someone’s day. Just a little consideration and stepping outside your bubble may just be the answer!
