Irma Teller runs the Cat Village in Gauteng, it is home to 1500 cats, and for her birthday, she wanted nothing, so a supporter arranged a surprise experience for her.

Johannesburg, South Africa – Irma Teller gives her heart, soul and time to caring for 1500 cats. She runs the Cat Villiage on the East Rand which is a pro-life non-profit cat rescue charity.

Irma, a rescuer by heart, takes in cats and offers them long-term residence. She is surrounded by a group of volunteers who work to give the cats the best lives possible. The village is set in a beautiful garden giving the cats many natural spaces to relax and stretch out.

One of the volunteers shared a beautiful story of Irma’s birthday surprise. Siobheanne Landsberg says Irma is so devoted to the cat village, she rarely wants anything for herself. When asked what she would like for her birthday, Irma insisted she had all she needed.

“For her recent birthday some of the volunteers wanted to give her a gift and as per usual she asked for nothing for herself. Her team knows that her only “treat” or “spoil” for herself is being able to watch her favourite TV show – Scandal!”

As a surprise, one of her supporters arranged for Irma to visit the set of Scandal and meet some of her favourite cast members. She was over the moon with the surprise.

“A visit to meet the cast and crew was arranged. I just wanted to give a shout out to the amazing team at Scandal for taking the time to meet and visit with Irma. It was such a simple gesture but was appreciated so much.  Kindness is a wonderful thing and I wish more people would throw it around like confetti”

Irma loved every moment of her day. As she refused gifts, this experience will be a reminder for years to come as one of the best birthdays ever.

It is so lovely to see animal rescuers get a little bit of love after all they do. You can find out more about the cat village here.
