A teacher in Ghana wanted his rural students to have the future so taught them computers using a chalkboard, now he can do so much more for them.
Last month we shared the inspiring story about a teacher in Ghana that was using a chalkboard to teach his students how to use Microsoft Word. Since his story went global, the most wonderful things have happened to him and the students.
We reported that people had come forward to offer donations to Owura Kwadwo but we never expected to hear such good news about exactly what he received.
A private donor from the University of Leeds donated a laptop to the dedicated teacher, which he received on the 8th of March and then a few days later, the school received another donation. The school was given 5 new desktop computers, a laptop and three boxes of ICT books.
Microsoft also came forward and offered Owura free training. They have gone above and beyond and flew him off to Singapore to attend the Microsoft Educators Exchange Summit.
The reason Owaru took such creative action was that the school didn’t have any access to computers but the students needed to know how to operate one and answer questions on it for their national exams.
Owaru plans to help other schools in need as well, he will do everything in his power to uplift the rural students in Ghana.
“I can also help out and give some of the donations to them, so they can also benefit through teaching ICT.”
