Charity took a daycare under their wings and now need the help of home bakers to supply healthy muffin options as a daily snack for the children.

Johannesburg, South Africa (28 January 2021) – One SMALL Act of Kindness (OSAOK) is a charitable organisation in the North of Johannesburg working to better the lives of struggling people. They took a school under their wings and are working to support the school through the lockdown.

The Little Bugs Day Care was started during the pandemic as a low-fee daycare centre where parents could leave their children while they looked for work, went to collect food parcels or grants and other tasks that can take a full day away from home.

The school was severely underresourced but thanks to OSAOK and their donors, the school is starting to thrive. One of the things the charitable organisation is focusing on is nutritious foods for the children.

They fully stocked the kitchen to ensure the children, who come from underprivileged homes, get two full meals per day. They also send food home to the families that struggle most.

One of the initiatives that OSAOK has launched this year is to provide a daily muffin to each child; however, they need help from the public.

The organisation put out a request for home bakers to bake muffins for the charity school. They asked for a baker to donate 24 muffins a week, with healthy fillings like bran, cheese or oats as examples.

The school is based in Randburg, so if you have some spare time and a deliciously healthy muffin recipe you want to use, you can reach out to Robyn and Kelly-Ann here. The ladies will assist you in what they need.

Baking muffins seems like such a small thing, but it will make a big change in the children’s lives at the school. If you would like to assist One SMALL Act of Kindness in any way, you can follow their Facebook page here and see what they need a helping hand with.
