Beanies for Beings do charity work for children, sometimes they stray from their usual cause which is knitting beanies and take on incredible tasks.

Muldersdrift, Johannesburg – Beanies for Beings is a charity that focuses on abused, abandoned and children in need, trying to bring a little joy and comfort into their lives. The charity started out by making knitted beanies for babies and children but has grown into something truly beautiful.

The charity constantly works on collecting items for people in need, no matter the need. They have collected food, toiletries, school supplies and so much more over the years.

Most recently, they stumbled upon Mr Moyo and his school St. Ignatius Primary on the edge of the Video Informal Settlement directly behind Ngwenya Glass Village. Beanies for Beings confirmed that his story and determination to give the children a hopeful future tugged right on their heartstrings.

After a month of working to help the school become something marvellous, they donated school desks, chairs, stationery, ECD equipment, cleaning materials etc.

“We reached out on social media for assistance in upgrading the school which we have been so blessed to receive. Last week we waterproofed the roof, installed ceiling fans and fixed electrical points.

This week, despite all the rain we have had, we have started installing windows. Some classrooms had no lighting or ventilation at all! Look at the progress being made – the before and after photos speak for themselves.”

“This is a very costly and long term project and we need all the assistance we can get. Please do think about getting involved, if you’re an individual, corporate, small business owner – You can make a difference – a huge one in the lives of over 120 children.

To everyone who has contributed financially, with time and labour, dropping goods off at the school, donated items for the school – We thank you”

The charity says the project is a work-in-progress, which needs the help of anyone wanting to get involved. This week they are working on the toilets and making sure there are enough fire extinguishers. If you would like to support them, you can contact them via Facebook here to get involved.

They will continue to post updates on the school which you can follow on Facebook as well.
