Cause 4 Paws are looking to collect 2500 blankets for dogs in their local township; they have launched a blanket drive to help reach this target.
Johannesburg, South Africa (26 May 2021) – Cause 4 Paws has launched a blanket drive to keep their dogs warm this winter. They care for around 2500 township dogs and know the need is great but have hope South Africans will lend a helping hand.
The organisation has been working in Jackson’s Drift Township, where they have seen thousands of dogs without sufficient shelter and warmth. Many of the dogs are nursing puppies as well.
“Our main focus is sterilization, vaccinations, medical care, education and feeding over 2500 Dogs and Cats in the Jackson’s Drift Township South of Johannesburg.”
The organisation has shared a few drop-off locations in the South of Johannesburg, hoping that people will be able to drop off their pre-loved (or new) blankets for the cause.
Rene Parker works tirelessly and has even offered to purchase grey dog blankets on behalf of cash donors who donate towards the blanket drive. She hopes to hand out as many blankets as possible before temperatures dip below 5 degrees.
She has built relationships with some local veterinary clinics, so if there is one closest to you, you can drop off your donations there.
Drop-off Locations
- Kibler Park Veterinary Clinic – 011 943 2182
- Brackenhurst Veterinary Clinic – 011 867 3131/2
- Hennie Alberts Veterinary Clinic – 081 724 7284
- Orion Veterinary Clinic – 011 432 0505
Aside from the blankets, the organisation always welcomes donations that would assist their cause. Dog, cat, puppy and kitten food is always needed. They would also love any pre-loved dog kennels, which will help the animals stay warm too! If you would like to support them further, you can reach out via Facebook here.
Most organisations will need blankets, so if you have an organisation close to your heart, reach out and see if they could use a few donations too!
