Donations South African Ubuntu: Charities rally together to help each other out!

Janine Ward shared the happy news that after receiving donations for children in December, the women involved knitted beanies to pay it forward.

Johannesburg, South Africa – A group called ‘Kindness like Confetti’ (KLC), based in Linden Gauteng, sprinkle kindness far and wide! They donated children’s toys and clothing to the Jewels of Hope Christmas party in December.

The focus of Jewels of Hope is to impact a few lives profoundly for a lifetime, rather than to touch many lives temporarily. The organisation provides tools to community-based organisations to provide a means for personal growth and income generation for child-headed and other vulnerable households. They were so thankful for the donations from Kindness like Confetti.

Now a few months later, Jewels of Hope decided to pay the kindness forward. When ‘Kindness like Confetti’ put out a plea for help knitting beanies for the homeless, the ladies at Jewels of Hope came together to repay the charity that helped them all those months ago.

Together the ladies knitted 27 beanies for the homeless.

“This is the great South African spirit of ubuntu at work! In December 2018, Jewels of Hope Zandspruit benefitted from a donation of toys and clothes for the children’s Christmas party from Kindness like Confetti (KLC). This winter when the appeal went out for knitters to make beanies for homeless people, the Zandspruit women put their hands up. Today we delivered 27 beanies to Claire Duvel.” – Janine Ward

More charities are helping each other out every day. With limited resources, it is great to see these two charities coming together to use what little they have in the best way possible. More donations are being collected and will be spread to each charity in need.
