The Sidewalk Specials charity has turned sad little dogs and cats into spoiled and loved pets; showing it doesn’t have to be a “dog’s life” for all!

Cape Town, South Africa (02 June 2020) – Sidewalk Specials is a non-profit company that focuses on sterilising animals and rescuing abused animals. They also save animals waiting on euthanasia lists. The organisation credits themselves as the “Uber” of Shelters as they rescue and rehome animals using their volunteer base but do not have any infrastructure.

During the lockdown, the organisation has been helping the poorest of the poor animals. They have been visiting the communities in De Doorns, to assist the families with food, medicines, adequate shelter and warmth and to provide proper collars and leads.

“This week we delivered over 600kg of Hill’s Pet Nutrition food alongside tick and flea treatments, dewormers, antibiotics, kennels, beds, collars and leads, we also educated owners and removed dogs for sterilisation at Vetpoint!

Huge thanks to Hill’s Pet Nutrition for your unending support and to our friends at The Underdog Project for the much-needed kennels!

It’s currently freezing in SA, 62 days into lockdown, the owners are struggling and the dogs are suffering! Our presence is more vital than ever!”

In every community, there are people working to make a difference! If you would like to support Sidewalk Specials, you can do so here.
