One SMALL Act of Kindness heard the story of Patrick, an 87-year-old who was beaten and robbed; they knew they had to get him off the streets and into a safe space.

Johannesburg, South Africa – Patrick has been living on the streets in Blairgowrie for some time. After being beaten, having his arm broken and robbed of all his possessions, the One SMALL Act of Kindness stepped in to offer him protection.

One SMALL Act of Kindness is a small charitable organisation that works to touch as many lives as possible. They help foster children and feed the homeless every week. Most recently they donated funds to seven animal charities in need. They launched a crowdfunding campaign to help raise funds to pay for a rental for Patrick.

The charity found him a room where he could live, staying warm on these cold winter nights and safe from any future dangers. The crowdfund set out to raise R12,000.00 to pay the rent and has already received over 50%.

“He was in tears earlier this week, in disbelief that we want to help him. He is too old and vulnerable for the street – he was beaten, had his arm broken and all his stuff stolen last month “

“We’ve got a room for him (and his friend who protects him) and we need to raise money for rent R1800 a month) and food.”

We’re also looking for the below:

– Size 8 men’s shoes
– Warm socks
– Size 34 pants
– Size medium tops
– Warm jackets
– Tinned food, pap etc.”

The collections will be handed over to Patrick and his protector when he moves into his new home. You can contact the charity via Facebook if you wish to offer donations listed above or if you would like to contribute to his rent, you can do so here. Patrick will never have to face a night on the streets again thanks to the help offered by One SMALL Act of Kindness.
