When the Matthew 25 Project’s new van desperately needed repairs, ‘ordinary people’ wanting to do more extraordinary acts made sure the vehicle would be ready to rock with extra gas to fuel their mission for kids:
Benoni, South Africa (28 April 2024) — Many of us know the stomach-dropping feeling that arrives when a gift we’ve received tears, breaks or worse—goes missing. For children’s organisation The Matthew 25 Project based in Benoni, a van they had long struggled to get their hands on finally came in December, but later on, so did the headache that comes with a vehicle needing desperate repairs.
The van was an essential wish for The Matthew 25 Project Team—a non-profit organisation who look after abandoned and abused children—given all the outings, doctors appointments, clinic visits and birthday parties they need to transport the children in their care to. So when it needed some TLC, the team was understandably stressed about how they would cover the costs.
Cue ordinary people who are doing extraordinary things. Literally—the name of the people who raised the funds to repair the van are actually called Ordinary Doing Extraordinary!
A helping-hand focused organisation that began in March, the Ordinary Doing Extraordinary community has already made positive impact in the lives of individuals and charities—all because people came together and decided it was time to do more for those who are already extending helping hands.
Thanks to them, The Matthew 25 Project’s van was repaired in tip-top condition, and an additional R1000 worth of fuel was also left in the tank so they could zoom on with their mission to help South Africa’s children.
“Of course we wasted no time in jumping in the van and taking our kids out! This makes life so much easier being able to transport our kiddies around, to church, doctors, fun outings and more!
“Thank you Amanda (and Amanda’s husband, Max!), Leoni and Kerry from Ordinary Doing Extraordinary (ODE) for helping us in the BIGGEST Way! You certainly do the Extraordinary!!”—The Matthew 25 Project.
