Chris Bertish is preparing to launch something very exciting; his long-awaited documentary film showcasing his Atlantic crossing, called Last Known Co-ordinates.
South Africa (05 August 2021) – Chris Bertish, an award-winning waterman and Conservationist, set a world record for the longest distance travelled on a wing-foil, solo and unsupported at 212 miles last month. It was the first milestone in his Transpacific Wing Project, a 2,750-mile journey by wing foil across the Pacific Ocean from Half Moon Bay, California, to Oahu, Hawaii.
Having launched on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, Bertish made the critical decision to temporarily halt the project and head into Morro Bay for repairs to his craft. He faced several issues with his craft and decided it would be best to do the repairs and relaunch at a later date.
Despite having to put his voyage on hold, Chris was able to set a world record. He now heads home for his upcoming documentary called Last Known Co-ordinates.
The film shows remarkable first-person footage that Bertish shot himself on the crossing of the Atlantic in 2016. He faced raging storms, numerous failing navigational systems, water shortages, injury while dodging supertankers and close encounters with sharks. Not to mention the incredible strain of complete isolation for more than three months in the equivalent of a floating sofa.
It’s a film that redefines the limits of human endurance and which will shock and inspire, showing what it takes to pursue a dream that others have feared to have and the courage, passion and resilience to follow it through.
Last Known Co-ordinates
When big wave surfer, speaker and ocean pioneer Chris Bertish decided he would stand up paddle across the Atlantic Ocean, completely alone and unsupported, his friends, family and everyone thought he might have gone crazy. At the same time, his fans openly suggested he’d die trying. But Bertish was a man sustained by some deep well of motivation. He had already proved himself as an elite extreme athlete by winning the Mavericks Big Wave competition, arguably the biggest accolade in the dangerous sport and held multiple Stand up paddle records. But his next endeavour had never even been attempted. It would take him putting everything on the line just to get to the start line, and from there, he would face a new reality; the constant struggle of trying to stay alive on a tiny craft in the middle of a massive ocean with only a paddle and himself to rely on…
The much-anticipated documentary film on Chris Bertish’s ground-breaking journey is set to launch globally on the 17th of August on TVOD platforms like Apple iTunes and Vimeo on Demand. Visit www.lastknowncoordinates.com for details.
