A community Facebook group has come together to help a man in Pinetown.

Pinetown, South Africa – Paolus Bongani used to work for a shoe manufacturing company in Westmead until recently when he was involved in a terrible car accident which landed him up in a coma for 6 weeks and then another 6 weeks recovery in the hospital.

He has no family and the company he was working for could not get hold of him or anyone else. Through the process, they thought he absconded and he, unfortunately, lost his job.

A lawyer came on board to assist Palous and laid a claim with the Road Accident Fund.

“Palous only got a total of R100. Apparently, and not far from what we can believe, the rest went to lawyers fees!!!”

Lauren Johnson heard of Paolus’ story and offered him the use one of their offices on Ivy Road in Pinetown to work from, he thanked them but asked if he could work from the road instead as he is trying to get passing trade. She posted on the 25 May on how amazing his work is…

“He has fixed a few of my shoes and does an incredible job. If you have any shoes to be fixed, soles, heels, straps come out etc.”

“You can find him on Ivy Road in Pinetown outside Gate 4 or contact him on 079 422 1732 or 063 346 0254”

Paolus has had a massive increase in work coming in from the Pinelands community since the original post.

A huge thank you to each and every single one of you who have shared my post and referred him to friends and family.

And corporates have even come on board to assist and empower this amazing entrepreneur. A company called Flash donated one of their mobile vending machines to him yesterday, which will allow him to sell airtime, data and prepaid electricity.

Thank you SO much! He is such a humble man, he said to me yesterday ‘Ma’am, I don’t know why you are helping me but thank you so so much and may God bless you so much too’. Really made my day knowing that we are making a difference in this mans life. So again, thank you to everyone for your help!

If you have any shoes to be fixed, soles, heels, straps come out etc. you can find him on Ivy Road in Pinetown outside Gate 4 or contact him on 079 422 1732 or 063 346 0254.
